Father Hennepin State Park
We went camping for Jason birthday. We love to explore the state parks. We haven't had one park that we totally love and want to go back to, but we did this weekend. Father Hennepin was right on Lake Mille Lacs. The second largest lake in MN.
I loved how it didn't look like it had an end. It was so beaitful. Their was a nice beach area but it was to cold for Ande and Eli.
Eli enjoyed being a big kid and riding around on the trails.
Ande loved going on hikes in the bike trailer. That was the main way we could get her to sleep. Ande and I went on a hike while the boys were napping and we saw two albino deers. That was very cool.
Ethan has been wanting to go fishing for a long time. We found out that you don't need a fishing permit to fish in the state parks. This is one of the main reason we went camping. We borrowed some fishing stuff for my dad. Jason took the boys fishing. It was kind of hard with two boys and the kids weren't patience(can you imagine). They came back to the camp site bummed out cuz they didn't catch anything. Jason told me later that night that he wasn't sure he remember how to fish. It had been about 12 years since he had fish. He was on the phone calling my dad and Phil(my brother in law) trying to get pointers. Jason woke up early the next morning and went out by himself to make sure he knew what he was doing. I was impressed what a great father trying so hard to make sure his boys have an good experience fishing. Jason did catch a couple of fish when he was on his own but the boys never did. On the way home Ethan said that we would be more patience next time. Sweet guy.
Jason sporting his new TC had he got for his birthday.
Thanks Ethan for taking our pic. The last night it rained really hard. The tornado siren even went off. The next morning the it was really windy and the waves off the lake were huge. Ethan went to the end of this dock we are standing on and while he was standing thier a big wave came up and he got so wet. He was shocked.
Here how wet he got. He was a tough guy and just kept hiking in wet clothes. We had a great time just being own little family in the great outdoors.
