The Water Boy

Ethan really enjoyed his basketball season, but it was not the end of basketball for him.  As the season was ending, his elementary teacher called us and asked if he would like to participate with about 10 other boys in being a waterboy during the last home game of Irondale High School (his future high school).  Of course, he would love this idea, so we said yes.  He was super stoked for the two weeks previous to the game.  He was to be a waterboy for one specific senior on the team.

The night came and the Irondale team made a really big deal about each of these boys.  The entire team lined up before the game started and the announcer announced each of the boys, after which they ran through the line and took some time out in center court.  Ethan was the first called.  He is the little white speck at the end of the line in the picture above.

He was the waterboy for number three, who happened to be a wonderful player.  The senior was very nice, always making sure that Ethan felt special, even during the heat of the game (and it was an intense game, which Irondale ended up winning).

Each boy was loaned a jersey from the player that he was the waterboy for.  Here is Ethan's jersey.  Obviously we had to tuck it in.  The really scary thing is that he will be fitting into this in another 8 years or so!!!  He loved this night and it was just another testament of the wonderful school district that we live in!!!
