So, despite all of the predictions about how terrible the weather was supposed to be, we went ahead with our long-awaited plans and took off Saturday to Jay Cooke State Park (abt 20 minutes south of Duluth). We got there, set up camp and about 10 minutes later experienced the largest hailstorm of my life - then it all calmed down and was great. Sunday was beautiful and very enjoyable. We hiked, played, did the camping things and had a wonderful dutch oven dinner. Then, based upon strong predictions, we packed up everything that we could (except our tent and sleeping bags) and prepared to leave early on Monday morning in the rain. Sure enough, at about 11 on Sunday night the storms started and there was much rain. By 8:00 am on Monday we were leaving the campsite, all packed up, and headed to a great breakfast buffet. Overall, I'd give it a B+. We all had a great time.
Here are all the cousins (at least the MN cousins)...
After about mile 2, Ande got a little tired on our hike - so here comes grandpa to save the day...
What a nice bunch of good looking people!
Here is a short compilation of some video we took - including live shots from the hailstorm.
